WINNIPEG – Manitoba Auditor General Tyson Shtykalo today released his report, Follow Up of Previously Issued Recommendations. This year’s follow-up report includes the implementation status of 57 recommendations from six reports issued in 2021 and 2023.
As at September 30, 2025, 25 of the 57 recommendations (44%) have been reported as implemented. Of the remaining recommendations, management reported:
· 31 (54%) were in progress.
· One will not be implemented.
The Auditor General typically follows up on the status of recommendations for the first time two years after a report is released. Subsequent follow ups are scheduled as needed.
“I encourage government departments and organizations to continue working toward fully implementing our recommendations,” Shtykalo said. “Meaningful improvements are achieved when identified issues are adequately addressed.”
The reports covered topics including animal disease preparedness, automatic vehicle location management systems, the Shellmouth Dam Compensation Program, Manitoba’s rollout of COVID‑19 vaccines, addictions treatment services, and the efficiency of court services.
The report also provides information on longer‑term implementation trends. Of the 297 recommendations issued between 2018 and 2021 that have completed the follow‑up cycle, 39% were implemented or resolved after four years.
