Tell us about your career path. How did you get here?
I joined OAG Manitoba through the CPA co-op program. I plan to pursue my CPA after completing my undergraduate degree and hope to continue my studies with an MBA in the future.

What do you enjoy most about working here?​
I love getting to work on real audit files and seeing how everything comes together, from testing and reviewing to communicating with clients. It makes the work I contribute feel meaningful, and having such a supportive team makes the experience even better.

What’s one thing you’ve learned during your time here?​
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that asking questions is actually a strength, not a weakness. Taking the time to fully understand things and digging deeper has helped me grow much more quickly and feel more confident in my work.

Tell us about your career path. How did you get here?
I worked in a variety of roles before joining the Office of the Auditor General. In my first year of university, I worked for the provincial government as a STEP student at the government greenhouse. I then worked as a fishing guide at Elk Island Lodge on Gods Lake, Manitoba. I also worked as an accounting summer student with a small company in Winnipeg before being matched with the OAG through the co-op program's formal recruitment process.

What do you enjoy most about working here?​
What I enjoy most about working here is knowing that the work we do is important for all Manitobans. Being part of a team that helps promote transparency and accountability in the public sector makes the work feel purposeful. I also appreciate the opportunity to learn and develop my skills by working alongside highly experienced and knowledgeable individuals, while contributing to something that benefits the broader community.

What advice would you give to future students considering OAG?​
I’d encourage students to stay open to learning opportunities and be willing to step outside their comfort zone. The work at OAG Manitoba exposes you to a wide range of challenges and provides an excellent environment to develop your professional judgment, as well as your technical and soft skills as an auditor. I’d also recommend making the most of the opportunity to build connections and learn from those around you. The team is very supportive, and it’s a great environment to grow both personally and professionally as an accounting student.

Tell us about your career path. How did you get here?
I joined OAG Manitoba as a Co-op student from the University of Manitoba during my third year after learning about OAG at CPA Networking Night.

What do you enjoy most about working here?​
There are so many things I enjoy about working at OAG! The work is meaningful and the team truly cares about your professional development, creating a supportive environment where you can learn something new every day.

Tell us about your career path. How did you get here?
My interest in accounting started in Grade 10 when I began taking accounting courses in high school. While completing a Co-op term in the same building as the OAG, I became curious about the Office and the work it does. Along with learning more about the OAG from my dad, who works for the Province, that curiosity encouraged me to apply.

What do you enjoy most about working here?​
The supportive environment. Everyone is approachable and always willing to take the time to answer questions, which made the transition into my role much easier. Having several CPA candidates and experienced CPAs in the office has also been a great benefit while working through the PEP program.

What advice would you give to future students considering OAG?​
Apply and take advantage of the opportunity! The work at OAG is meaningful because it supports public accountability and helps ensure government is using public funds responsibly. Knowing that your work contributes to something that benefits all Manitobans makes it a rewarding place to start your career and grow as a professional.
